Three projects, one very happy family
The Story
When one project becomes three
The best compliment a builder can get is a phone call for the next project. This Berkeley Hall family called us three times. What started as a bonus room over the garage grew into a bunk room and en suite, and then a home office, each one designed and built with the same care, and each one earning the next. Here’s how it came together, room by room.
Phase One · Bonus Room Over the Garage
Not a sheet of drywall in the room
The first project set the tone for everything that followed. Working alongside the homeowners’ designer, we transformed the room over the garage into a showpiece, and we did it without a single sheet of drywall. The entire room is wood paneling and nickel gap, with flooring matched to what runs through the rest of the home for a seamless feel.
We spray-foamed the space for comfort and efficiency, ran a dedicated mini-split for year-round climate control, trimmed it out, and built in the custom cabinetry and media wall. Every angle of this room is magazine-cover ready.
Phase Two · Bunk Room & En Suite
Found space, turned into the kids’ favorite room
For the second project, we made space where there wasn’t any. An unused closet that shared a wall with the bedroom was absorbed to make the bedroom larger, and unused attic space, which held nothing but the water heater, became a brand-new en suite bathroom.
That bath got a custom vanity with a resort aesthetic and serious functionality, right down to a pull-out toe-kick stool with hidden storage. Throughout the bathroom we built discreet hidden doors for access to the rest of the attic, keeping utility close but out of sight.
The bunks themselves are the star: custom-built with white oak accents, drawers built into the risers for storage, and thoughtful niches for lighting, a phone or tablet, and a place to set your water bottle. Luxury and practicality in equal measure.
From the tiled walk-in shower to a charming dormer window-seat nook, every detail earned its place.
Phase Three · The Home Office
A golf-course view, finally put to work
Berkeley Hall is the family’s second home, and when they needed to work, they had nowhere to do it. So for the third project, we took an unused area facing their gorgeous golf-course view and turned it into a beautiful built-in office. Custom desks, a hidden printer area, and yet another hidden door for extra storage beside the TV, a workspace that’s as functional as it is easy on the eyes. The kind of room that makes working from your second home feel like anything but work.
